Playing
How do I learn the controls?
Just start: your first race begins straight away, and prompts on the screen teach steering, sliding, nitro and braking as you go.
How do I steer?
The car accelerates by itself. Turn the Digital Crown to choose your line across the road, and the car follows the bends on its own. Turn the Digital Crown sharply, a flick, to throw the car into a slide. To steer every degree yourself, open Settings in the game and set Steering, under Controls, to Wheel.
How do I use nitro and brake?
Tap the screen for nitro once a segment of the nitro bar is lit; the bar is in the lower corner, on the Digital Crown side. Slides, near misses, slipstreams, air time and clean overtakes fill it, and each tap spends one segment. Touch and hold the screen to brake. Brake assist (Sport, Full or Off) is in the game's Settings, under Controls.
How do I pause?
Lower your wrist, or tap the pause button at the top left of the screen.
Sound
Why can't I hear the game?
Speedrist plays sound only when Silent Mode is off. Turn Silent Mode off in Control Center on your watch, or in its Settings app under Sounds & Haptics. To make the game louder or quieter, open Settings in the game, then Sound.
Progress
Is my progress saved?
Yes, automatically, on your watch: unlocked cars and tracks, stars, medals, records, achievements and your settings. Speedrist has no account and no cloud sync, so your progress stays on the watch you play on, and deleting the app deletes it.
Watches
Which Apple Watch models can play?
Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, or Apple Watch SE 3, with watchOS 26.0 or later. Earlier models are not supported.
Do I need my iPhone or a connection?
No. Speedrist is a standalone Apple Watch app: it runs on the watch alone, and every mode plays offline.
Cars, tracks and shortcuts
How do I unlock cars and tracks?
You start with two cars and two layouts. Racing opens the rest: cars, layouts, liveries, and the Mirror and Night versions. Every locked item shows what opens it, and winning a Tournament opens its Expert events. There are no in-app purchases; everything opens by racing.
Where are the shortcuts?
Every track hides one, and the track maps on the loading and pause cards draw it. As the shortcut opens, turn the Digital Crown to hold the car well over to that side of the road: the car takes it, and SHORTCUT shows. With Wheel steering, steer into it yourself. Taken cleanly, it gains you a second or two.
On Capo Ocra, driving the forward layout, look for it after the long cliff-top straight and the downhill left-hander, where a dirt track leaves the road into the olive grove.
Privacy
Speedrist collects no data, and the game makes no network connections of its own. Your progress stays on your watch. See the Speedrist privacy policy.
